We have a host of treatments to provide quality care.
We offer ultrasound scanning facilities in house and provide Ultrasound guided injections for improved accuracy in injections.
Research has shown Ultrasound guided injections are often more accurate than those performed without ultrasound.
A more accurately guided injection means increased chances of a successful outcome.
Dr Akhtar is a GMC (General Medical Council) registered doctor and GOSc (General Osteopathic Council) registered Osteopath.
He gained his medical degree from the University of Sheffield in 2007 and his Osteopathy qualification from the London College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017.
This course involved extensive training in Manual Therapy and traditional Osteopathic Techniques.

I visited MSK Burnley on the 30th December with acute sciatica. I was desperate for relief after not being able to work or sleep in 3 weeks. After a thorough consultation we decided to give the caudal epidural a try. Everything was explained to me, I was reassured and informed what was going to happen next. The procedure took 20 mins or so and whilst at times a little uncomfortable nothing compared to the awful sciatic pain I’d been suffering with. I leave this review a week after the epidural and I am 95% pain free. A little stiff in the morning. Hopefully I won’t need to but I would definitely return if my symptoms return. Great clinic, informative doctor.

I booked an appointment here after my mum had recommended it to me. I've been having issues with pain in my shoulder, and she'd had issues with hers too and insisted that I see Dr. Akhtar because he helped her with hers.
The clinic was very clean and fresh, and Dr. Akhtar couldn't have been more patient and understanding of what I wanted to discuss. He listened to every single thing I had to say and took the time to hear about my history with scoliosis, then undertook a thorough assessment for 40 minutes, checking my mobility and doing an ultrasound on all the areas I was concerned about. Unlike other doctors I've seen, he didn't focus only on the area he was interested in, but instead looked at everything that bothered me, and that made all the difference.
For years I've complained about a burning sensation in my neck, believing I had a trapped/pinched nerve, and for years no doctor would hear me. They'd simply suggest other simple reasons for my pain, like poor posture, and my scoliosis was never even considered. Dr. Akhtar DID consider my scoliosis, and the ultrasound left me feeling vindicated - I have a trapped nerve. I am so grateful to him for hearing me and making sure I was properly assessed, and for assuring me that I'm right in what I had thought all along. I should mention at this point that the assessment itself required no removal of any clothing, instead he very respectfully taped my shirt sleeve back so he could reach my shoulder and neck, and I really appreciated that.

I recently saw Dr Akhtar about painful arthritis in my left knee. He administered a hyurolonic acid injection and drained a synovial cyst on the back of the same knee , guided by ultrasound- it was completely painless! He explained things I could do to hopefully stave off a knee replacement, which is a great relief.
I can’t praise him enough for his care, understanding and expertise . He explained everything in detail and answered my many questions . I will definitely return when I require another injection. The clinic is very modern, clean and relaxing.
The receptionist was a lovely young lady who was very welcoming. All in all , a great experience! Thank you.

I visited the clinic because I'm a keen runner and I'd been experiencing pain around the Metatarsal in both feet. I had a significant long distance running event coming up, which I'd committed to, and I needed to manage the pain. I immediately felt very comfortable with Dr Akhtar. His manner was patient, kind and professional, and he put me at ease. He was very thorough indeed, providing lots of information and explanations. He administered Cortisone, as requested, and the result was that I was able to complete the event I'd committed to. I rarely take time to write reviews, but felt it was worthy in this case. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Just had a caudol epidural injection from Dr Akhtar and whilst it is too early to know if it has been successful,I felt really at ease the whole time . Dr Akhtar was very patient in explaining everything to me and answering any questions I had, a really nice chap who gets my highest recommendation.

I recently saw Doctir Akhtar at his clinic for persistent shoulder pain. After a thorough scan he diagnosed calcific tendonitis of my right shoulder. Doctor Akhtar took the time to explain the condition to me and the best course of treatment to relieve my pain. I had a cortisone at injection at the clinic and after a week my pain is greatly reduced. I would not hesitate to recommend My MSK and am pleased that I went for my consultation and treatment.

I’ve been working with Dr. Akhtar for a few months now and I’ve nothing but 5 star service. Goes through everything and is very thorough. As a Dr he has a duty of care to his patients and he follows through with that on every appointment. He always put myself first rather than himself and is happy to refer you to certain specialists if the problem needs surgery/ alternative procedures that he doesn’t offer. Would definitely visit again.

After suffering with golfer’s elbow for 7 months and being incorrectly diagnosed on the NHS together with the long waiting times, I visited Doctor Akhtar on a couple of occasions. He was very professional, putting me at ease and together with the guided ultra-scan machine got to the root cause of the problem. The prolotherapy treatment plus a steroid injection was successful and following the recommended rest will be back playing golf soon. I would certainly recommend Dr Akhtar and his MSK clinic 😀👍

Quite franky this service potentially has saved my wife Louise life ! Having gone to see the doctor for the swelling and pain behind the left knee of my wife Louise which we thought may be a bakers cyst. Upon examination it turned out to far more troubesome.
This was confirmed in the hospital blood test result of the D-Dimer of 5000 which Louise recieved several hours later from the hospital urgent care centre as Dr Akhtar had written an urgent letter for Louise to take straight after her first consultation.
Dr Akhtar is quite clearly not only a very competent professional given his intial diagnosis at the first appointment of Louise of a potential blood clot (dvt)of the left leg of Louise he is also a very considerate & conscientious doctor who quite clearly puts the best interests of his patients above anything else. Thankyou Dr Akhtar you are a credit to yourself and your family and when the blood clot treatment has finished we will be back for further advice and treatment for the original problem.
In the meantime we would highly recommend your service. Thanks again from Louise & Paul

Due to the long wait on the NHS and after suffering many weeks of pain I decided to pay private for assessment and steroid injection to my cervical spine.
I am so pleased I came across my MSK Burnley. Lovely clinic nice ambiance.
Dr Akhtar is a true professional and a credit to his profession.
He is very approachable and went through my MRI scan results with me highlighting where the issues are.
He fully explained the procedure, gave me time to ask questions he even showed me on a dummy what he was going to do.
The procedure was very though and apart and from a mild discomfort from the local injection I did not feel the steroid injection.

I went to “My MSK” having been referred for Plantar fasciitis. Following an ultrasound scan of my Heel I was given an injection into the area. The problem is now much improved and I am not in pain when walking now. Highly recommend 👍

I want to say a big thank you to Mr Akhtar for examining my shoulder where I have experienced pain almost 5 years and onwards. Mr Akhtar did all his checks very thoroughly and got to the bottom of my problem. I have had chiropractors and sport massage treatments for this particular shoulder and nothing had worked. First session I got results where I could reach my back and after treatment I was extremely surprised at how my shoulder felt at ease. I got an appointment the next day on calling and on arrival I was greeted very professionally. Thank you Mr Akhtar I hope to see you again in the future.

After three years of suffering hip pain that I had assumed was an exercise injury I was diagnosed with early arthritis of the hip a few months ago. The private hospital where I had the MRI scan and X-ray carried out quoted me £1500 just for the surgery time to administer a cortisone injection. This did not include the consultant's fee or the cost of the injection!
After browsing on the internet I came across My MSK clinic and decided to book an appointment with Dr Akhtar. I am so glad I did!
Dr Akhtar was very welcoming and the consultation was very thorough. Dr Akhtar explained all the treatment options available (more than were offered at the private hospital) and I opted for cortisone and hyaluronic acid injections which I decided to have there and then. That was 3 months ago. For the first month or so my hip felt a bit achy and niggly but then everything settled down and the end result is brilliant! The stiffness has completely gone (my hip used to crack and pop all the time) and apart from a very occasional mild twinge I am pain-free. I can now exercise and even just walk without being constantly aware of my hip. Most days I don't even give my hip a thought!
I would definitely recommend Dr Akhtar. I will certainly return if I need a top-up injection in the future or anything else starts to hurt! I should also add that the cost of my treatment was probably about a quarter to a fifth of what I would have paid at the private hospital.

I recently attended the Clinic and found both Dr. Akhtar and the young man on reception to be kind, considerate and easy to talk to. Dr. Akhtar was helpful and knowledgeable and at no point did I feel “rushed”. In fact it was nice to actually be listened to. The Clinic itself is spotlessly clean with a very calming atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The complimentary coffee was much appreciated after my journey! At no point did I feel anxious I have to say and I would not hesitate to recommend MSK . I will definitely return should the need arise.

I had PRP treatment on my hip recently. I attended the clinic for guided steroid injections in both hips. Dr Akhtar was extremely welcoming and professional and went to great lengths to explain at each stage how he was assessing my condition and approaching the procedure. The procedure was undertaken very smoothly, efficiently and comprehensively. I felt some initial benefit almost at once and over the coming days, it was a definite improvement. He also took time to diagnose some specific artefacts that he found during the ultrasound scan and these were passed on to my Doctor. I will have no hesitation in returning for further treatment as necessary and would recommend him most highly.

Dr Akhtar was extremely welcoming and professional and went to great lengths to explain at each stage how he was assessing my condition and approaching the procedure. The procedure was undertaken very smoothly, efficiently and comprehensively. I felt some initial benefit almost at once and over the coming days, it was a definite improvement. He also took time to diagnose some specific artefacts that he found during the ultrasound scan and these were passed on to my Doctor. I will have no hesitation in returning for further treatment as necessary and would recommend him most highly.

NHS 12 week wait. basically have a trapped never and a slipped disc. I had been to the physio at my GP surgery with my scan Monday this week no mention of the nerve or the disc. I had two injections in my back
Dr Amir talked through everything he was doing. Absolute pleasure to meet him. My back after 4 hours feels so much better.They also send a report to your GP. The waiting list for the two injections with NHS is 18 month's. Highly recommended MSK.

It was lovely to meet Dr Akhtar yesterday at his clinic. I had an extremely thorough 45 min consultation with him. He was so attentive and really listened to every detail about my history and symptoms. I would also like to add that he has a very friendly and professional manner.
I had spinal injections after my consultation. I was rather nervous about having the injections but was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the whole process was. It's early days post injection, however already I can feel a huge improvement in my symptoms.
To anyone considering booking an appointment, my advice is not to hesitate, just go ahead, you won't regret it.
